SUMMER TRAVEL & HOLIDAYS
We all have our holiday plans arranged or will soon be taking a trip somewhere. Last few years we have not taken so many trips a few short trips around the country which is always a nice idea.
PLANES VS TRAINS
When I would take trips, it was sometimes a long haul flight , something i rarely do or like. Otherwise I have to say I love to travel via train , even as a kid it was one of my favourite ways to travel. Whether it takes longer is fine , it is way more relaxing, comfortable and being able to move around the train , seeing the countryside is a bonus in my books.
In the last year we have heard so much about the climate change and how our lifestyles or businesses
are effecting the environment . The young swedish climate activist girl has made it clear , people need to change their lifestyle. There is even a word for it Flyskam in Swedish, meaning flight shame.
For those of us that travel we can help also. There are programmes that are offered by some airlines
where you donate to a organization the is working to help environment. Some are via planting trees, trees are a natural way to collect the carbon in the air. The amount of carbon a tree holds is astonishing. The more trees the cleaner the air becomes. Another is a airline that
uses fuel efficient planes.
A German organization called Atmosfair provides you with a lot of information as to just how much
carbon is released when we fly - example: London to 'New York flight , 1 person return produces, 2,726kilograms of carbon, which is more then a car releases in 1 year - according to their page.
I was astonished by that information , it is a real eye opener!
But overall its crucial we work together to clean up the environment. Two of the worst offenders are the oil and gas industry and the fashion industry. The use of fossil burning vehicles needs to be greatly reduced. The use of chemicals, overuse of water and the deforestation of areas has created a ticking time bomb.

Well I am sure most us know by now how much hotter the summers have
become in the last few years , my thinking is what i do will effect others and other
generations and what I can do to change it is a start.
So train travel is going to be part of holiday plans.
Cutting back on long haul flights is definitely another.
Plus donating to worthwhile project is another.
So perhaps we can all think about this next time we travel
on our holidays. Every little bit helps!
