DO YOU LOVE A GOOD MYSTERY?
Well there is nothing I love more is to read a good mystery book. Years backs,,, as a kid
I would always read those Agatha Christie mysteries. I had collected most of the books
she had written and would always pack them along when on a trip. This was before
ebooks appeared. Plus i am more a fan of a REAL book.
Well getting back to the subject of mysteries, Christies books always seemed to take place in some
exotic far away place filled with hot summer breezes, sunny beaches , travels by boats or trains.
And there was one detective that was key to solving the crime, Hercule Poiret. From mystery books, to television series to movies, this detective has been there. The time of Art deco and lavish styles.
Lately the new movie remake , of Murder on the Orient Express opened and which of course I want to see.
FASHION THE OTHER POIRET
But there is another Poiret - Paul Poiret. I recently read about his fashions designed in the early 1900s and 20s.
The styles of long slinky dresses, exotic looking kimonos and patterns and lavish finishes.
Those styles are beautiful and elegant and even now would look oh so glam for any girl.
He was so popular and famous in Paris at the time. Not only did he design clothes, but also
home decor and interior design which he was influenced by the Austrian Wiener Werkstatt.
Yes , Vienna was a great influence in more ways the one.not only in music.
He was more famous then Chanel at the time.
Devine designs of Poiret evening dresses , kimonos, coats and dresses.
