LE CHIC MODE

 HAPPY MAY 1ST The day is celebrated here as a holiday and through most of Europe. It is a holiday to celebrate all the workers.  Usually rallies are held,picnics, music and just getting together.   But this year  was less of an event ,though few people did gather in the city centre. The MAYPOLE DANCE🌷🌺  another event held in some European countries is the MAY DAY  flag pole dance, a tall pole is erected atop is a large wreath made of branches with long colourful ribbons dangling from the pole , young kids dancing around it holding onto the ribbons as it slowly gets wrapped around the pole. A every  fun way to welcome the new season of summer.

THE GRANDE BALL of the SEASON Yes the ball of all balls was held , and seeing it live is one event one will always remember.(if you are lucky) But even to see  live on tv is fun. To see the gorgeous GOWNS , the magical place filled with beautiful flowers , music and champagne is fabulous. This  years flowers the colours  were purple, pinks, deep reds and greens, which was a wonderful combination. THE RED CARPET   the entrance and staircase overflowing  with more flowers was rolled out for the guests and there  were hundreds to see  all dressed in their finery. SCENES of a BALL HOPE you enjoyed to see some of photos  from this years opernball. It is really a very magical moment and place to visit anytime. image orf

🎭🎭SHOWTIME EVERYONE!🎥🎥 The best thing about summer in the city are all the outdoor events held, from sporty to cultural. There is something for everyone. My favourite thing to do during the summer is to check out the film events .  Films from classic to comedy.....  the French comedies are hilarious and not to forget the Italian films. Recently the famous Italian direct Franco Zeffirelli died. He was famous for his Shakespeare films like, Taming of the Shrew or Romeo and Juliet - one of my favourites and a great classic. A must see!! WHERE TO SEE The most visited place would be the one by the city hall Rathaus, but there are plenty more interesting places to check out and each has a different theme of films,  some are mysteries, or comedies. NOT DEAD YET..... life is good! This is one statement I have to agree with and what really  made it special it was the Phil Collins concert held here last weekend.  The start of his first European concert held here. We went to see him perform and I will say it was amazing to  hear the songs live.   After all he is a world famous musician , composer, grammy winner and oscar winner (and recently a doctorate was presented to him in Austria). The only thing that stunned me was to see him in a wheelchair... but what does it matter. After all he is getting older, but he is not dead yet as the tour is called. The man is amazing and really if you like the genesis and their tunes-   then you have to see the concert. The opening performance was Mike & the Mechanics. also very good. THE WEEKEND FINALLY! Fridays are for me Freedom day.... the work week is finally over and I can relax, kick off the heels,  and  enjoy a drink.  Its been an unusually hot spring and the summer it seems will be the same.   So naturally it nice to be home and sit outside  , light the barbecue and enjoy dinner al fresco.   Its a  thing about summertime that reminds me of summers spent in northern Europe, visiting family and spending the summers boating, eating fresh shrimps and mounds of delicious strawberries.  A oh so relaxing time.  Strolling over rocky coasts, or vast sand dunes that stretched on forever.  The long summer nights ....... NORDIC THINGS ...  HYGGE , LAX , IKEA The Scandinavian countries  come alive in the summer after the long winters, and it is their love of the outdoors nature and enjoying the small things.  No wonder the nordic countries are always top of the list of the best livi...

EIN SOMMERNACHT TRAUM  MY HEART SKIPS A BEAT WHEN THE BIGGEST EVENT OF THE SUMMER STARTS.. THE SUMMER CONCERT AT THE FAMOUS SCHONBRUNN  . NOTHING IS MORE MAGICAL OR EXCITING TO HEAR GREAT MUSIC PERFORMED UNDER THE NIGHT SKY. THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT AND THE CROWDS AMAZING. PEOPLE WITH THEIR BLANKETS , WINES GLASSES.  AN INFORMAL PICNIC SET UP TO ENJOY THE NIGHT. THE ATMOSPHERE IS AMAZING AND TO HEAR SUCH A FAMOUS SYMPHONY PERFORM IS A DEFINITE HIGHLIGHT FOR ANYONE. FOR THOSE  NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE SCHONNBRUNN  WELL IT IS THE FORMER EMPERORS PALACE  SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL  LANDSCAPED GROUNDS, GLORIOUS FOUNTAINS ,THE GLORIETTE AND THE WORLD FAMOUS ZOO. A VIEW OF THE GLORIETTE   AND THE CONCERT STAGE. THE GRAND FINALE WITH FIREWORKS AND  LIGHT SHOW .  A VERY GRAND ENDING FOR A WONDERFUL SUMMER NIGHT. A DEFINITE MUST SEE !!! EVEN IF NOT FOR THE CONCERT.

ONE THING FOR CERTAIN, VIENNA IS A CITY OF MUSIC. AND CULTURE AND THIS WEEKEND WAS ONE VERY SPECIAL ONE . A SYMPHONY IN  THE CENTER OF THE CITY. THERE SEEMS TO BE A CONCERT ALMOST EVERY WEEK, FREE OR NOT.  SO IF YOU LOVE MUSIC AND LOVE TO BE UNDER THE STARS LISTENING TO THE SOUNDS, THIS IS ONE PLACE TO BE!! I FOR ONE LOVE MUSIC S O ANY CHANCE TO GET OUT TO HEAR AND SEE THE SIGHTS IS AWESOME,
