THE MINI  THING A few new things for the fall that are appearing in fashion is the MINI, not the skirt but those small  little purses.   It seems to be quite popular in some parts of Europe. I do have a few purses that I would say are mini (kind of),  but not something I use often, as they are simply  to small to hold much. But for a special outing or day out where you don't want to carry a lot, than it does look nice with a smart suit or dress.  Its not a bad idea to have a least one smaller bag handy. Whether for parties or special occasions. Here are a few that caught my eye.......... NEUTRAL OR PRINTS PEARLS for parties pearls are always elegant looking ,  wear it the the little black dress or tuxedo suit..... or a lovely summery outfit. PICK A COLOR.... BIRDS EYE VIEWS Today I thought i would share something different, nothing related to fashions , but some amazing photos of the Red Arrows . What are the red arrows , you ask?   Well its  UKs airforce planes.  A team of planes that are highly skilled and do breathtaking maneuvers. I have always had a fascination with flying and especially the airshows , as a kid. Seeing the daring pilots and  the airplanes up close. Whenever there was a airshow in town we would go see it. Even now I would sometimes travel to catch a show. They are doing a tour in the USA for 11 weeks  visiting landmark cities coast to coast. THE ITALIANO MOOD Today is a holiday in Austria and today is also a holiday weekend in Italy.  So on the radio is  a celebration of  Italy  with music from Italian singers like Eros Ramazzotti, Lucio Battisti, Renato Carosone and many others. A perfect way to get into the Italian mood.   If you love italian music, food , this will make you feel very happy. So much to enjoy when one thinks of Italy....  the magnificent fountains, seaside resorts, pasta, pizza, limocelli and the cafes and shops. Fashion is also a highlight of a trip to Italy, but when on holidays is nice to just relax and take in the sights, smells and sun. TOUGH DECISION- be bolder As the summer season is unwinding and fall is just around the corner, styles are changing.  From shoes to jewelry there are some new looks to try for fall.  One of the changes is in jewelry.  The small delicate pieces that have been so popular are being replaced by more chunky pieces. If you are like me, I do like the  delicate items also,  worn with the summery dresses or tops but having to wear  several at a time - well it can be a lot to put on.  So one chunkier piece is all one needs to  make a change.   I happen to like both , but a change sometimes is nice. A   simple bracelet worn with a watch  or those more visible earrings like a pair of hoops , is all one needs to wears.   Both work well with   the fall outfits  when  knits or wools pieces are worn.   CHUNKY BRACELETS  So are you ready for a change of accessories and seasons?

AN EVENING OUT All over Austria there are events to see from Salzburg to Vienna. It can be exciting and very interesting.  THE LICHTERFEST One event  held each year in the city is the Lichterfest held on the Danube(Alte Donau) . It a chance to see fireworks, enjoy the music, boats lite up and if you like rent a boat to get into the spirit. If your not keen to go boating you can also enjoy the many restaurants along the Alte Donau. It is one of my favourite things to go to , and especially dine along the Donau. Its nature at your  backdoor.  A very popular place for  cycling, walking , swimming or just relaxing. The trail goes for miles.  An scattered along the way are several boat rental spots, sailing  and rowing clubs, plus the restaurants.   SO MANY BOATS THE FINALE.........

FASHION to FAST? or Fasting over fashion As much as i love fashion and the idea of buying something new for each season, part of me wants to be more conscious of what the item i am buying is made of, is it a sustainable item  or not?   Lately it has become a big issue, how the fashion industry is one of the major polluters  , and consumers produce  vast amounts of waste in the landfills. But now it seems manufactures using recycled materials. Recycling of materials is one way to limit the carbon emissions,  But as we already hear or know the earths atmosphere is  heating up more and more, well above the limit  that is acceptable.  I have been reading so many scientific reports on the climate change issue and it scares me. SHOP TILL YOU DROP MINDSET My lifestyle has changed more since living here, namely i don't take  a car, use public transport, travel via train,  I still will shop for things I need, fashion wise.   but am not all that- I have to that item, s

A SHOPPING DILEMMA I can say my shopping habits have changed  a bit since moving here, and also probably the fact I don't see the need as much to shop every sale. Basically I got tired of running about looking  for the item on sale, and it not being available.  I of course like a sale like anyone. but the frustration can be to much,  and I realized later I managed without the item  Of course we need to shop for things if they  need replacing , shoes for one, or clothing  that doesn't fit or is well worn - then there is no option.   BACK TO BASICS But truth is I look to get something that works well with what i already have in my closet  and can be worn in several different ways.  Mixing colours and prints, solids and textures. Suedes leathers, velvets, linens , tweeds, wools cottons  are some of my favourite materials.  A simple leather skirt will last  years, Velvet looks expensive and look wonderful for the festive season. HAPPY AUGUST EVERYONE! Well the month of July has flown by with some interesting moments and a few not so fun ones. But that is how it is - sometimes things happen we don't plan for or expect. Besides the extra hot weather and a few outings it was an okay summer, but we plan a short trip  and are getting some visitors  this month . So I hope it wont be as hot. From film fests, garden ideas and pool projects these are few things that were planned. OUT & ABOUT Some of things  I did check out  were the film fest around town, a nice way to spend the evening. even then it was still fairly warm in the night. FLOWER & MORE FLOWERS The other thing I wanted to get done was adding a few more plants on the veranda.                 So we got a lovely lavender plant. Nothing like the fragrance of lavender, I only hope it grows and flowers , as it does need a lot of sun,  which is a problem here-  but  i think i found a spot that  works. Fingers X crosse
