FASHION to FAST? or Fasting over fashion
As much as i love fashion and the idea of buying something new for each season, part of me wants to be more conscious of what the item i am buying is made of, is it a sustainable item or not?
Lately it has become a big issue, how the fashion industry is one of the major polluters , and consumers produce vast amounts of waste in the landfills. But now it seems manufactures using recycled materials. Recycling of materials is one way to limit the carbon emissions,
But as we already hear or know the earths atmosphere is heating up more and more, well above the limit that is acceptable.
I have been reading so many scientific reports on the climate change issue and it scares me.
SHOP TILL YOU DROP MINDSET
My lifestyle has changed more since living here, namely i don't take a car, use public transport, travel via train, I still will shop for things I need, fashion wise. but am not all that- I have to that item, sale or not. Perhaps because i don't feel the pressure as much over here to shop, as one feels in America where consumerism is a big thing. From the mega malls, 7 days shopping or 24hr openings.
For me it is a relief to not feel such pressure.
ZARA is reporting it will start to be more efficient, by that i wonder what they mean. The owner says the stores will be more efficient , what does t hat mean? Will they change their light bulbs, from 60 tü 40watts, or will they make sure the clothes they produce are made with efficient methods, using less water, less chemicals that pollute the waters and be sustainable?
One place to find out more about which major fashion outlet is open and transparent about their production can be found at Fashion revolution.
FASHIONISTAS
Sharing fashion ideas and inspiration is fine, new ideas and ways to change ones looks is all about
creativeness. One does not need a ton of things to change a look.
