  TIME TO SAY BYE 2020 well its the last day of 2020. something to celebrate! Its been a tough year for all of us, we have all been on this rollercoaster, of lockdowns and all the other things that happened in 2020. but i can only hope we all are safe and healthy and we can look forward to a FABULOUS 2021 (good riddance 2020!!!) So of course it felt completely different.   THE CITY STREETS     one of my favourite streets to stroll along in the city. The beautiful chandeliers, it is so magical! Today is Silvester Abend  as it is called in German. The night we all celebrate around the world, NEW YEARS EVE! The fireworks, music, dancing  and glasses of bubbly to celebrate the new year. GETTING COMFY FOR THE HOLIDAYS Hi Everyone The holiday season is getting closer, with most of us being busy shopping, baking or sending greetings to family and friends.  After all the things are finished then it is time to relax, put our feet up and have a nice drink, ( hot chocolate please) Well its not Christmas yet, I have been thinking about what to wear over the holidays. The dressy outfit is great for a day, but what about all the other days. After the hectic time , then something comfortable to relax in is key. I adore a nice sweater, especially the cable knit look. Something so CLASSIC about cable knits. I have a few in my drawer but thought this one is a little different.  CRAZY for CABLE KNITS this sweater looks so cozy , love the sleeves , a change from the tradition cable knit look.   The MORNINGS DELIGHT What is the first thing you have in the morning a cup of tea or coffee? Tea or coffee , both are popular and the drink of choice for many people. I only  lately started to drink coffee with flavoured creamer, French Vanilla or Hazelnut flavour. Tea, I will drink more when I am not feeling well with lemon. Recently I was reading an article about tea and how some brands have plastic in the teabags. Who knew or would think there be plastic in TEABAGS. There is one brand that mentions on the packaging it contains no PLASTIC. A test was done to see which  teabags contains plastic, surprising most did. LET IT SPARKLE AND SHINE In the last post about dressing up for holidays it is something I like, love to do. DRESS UP for special occasions. Of course this year will be completely different, as we have less contact with others and the lockdowns. But I don't see any reason why we can't wear the dressy things or even bring out the other things like crystal glasses , silver candlesticks...... There is something so magical about the holidays and it is the one holiday that we can really light up our homes, celebrate the time and wear our best outfits. After all its not everyday we dress up, so why not?   GETTING INTO THE FESTIVE SPIRIT Though the Christmas holidays will probably have less activities, not so many outings or events to attend, I still feel I would like to celebrate the time and get a bit more dressed up.  I love to dress up for the holidays! Though this year there aren't any office parties or visits with friends or family. We have been in second lockdown , so whether things change it is unlikely we will be entertaining family or friends this year.  We had some snow just lately, and it looked wonderful . KEEPING THE FEET WARM December, my most favourite month and we will be getting our first snowfall this week. Winter is not complete without SNOW.  Yes, some of us love the snow for different reasons and then some hate it. But I choose to enjoy the snowy white stuff well it lasts, that is one thing about living in the city, there is not much snow , usually it melts away in a few days.  So well it does get colder, a pair of boots to wear is one of the things needed. Whether a pair of dressier   or a nice casual boot, these boots work well. Whether you live in the city or enjoy the outdoors  there are boots for anytime. A TALL BOOT knee high boots are on trend but really when didn't a high boot go out of style. Its a perfect item to wear with dresses or slacks.  READY SET GO... TIME TO DECORATE I am sure many of you are Christmas addicts, love to light the candles, hang the stockings, setup the tree fill the place with Christmas decorations.  I am one who loves to get the things up a little early, so I can sit and enjoy it in the evenings . The lights all aglow, the sparkle of the shiny ornaments that are so dazzling.  Nothing is more special and memorable as that. I can remember as a kid the excitement of going to get a tree at the tree lots. Later we had a large artificial one, a real pain to set up. My mom bought it , but never could manage to put it together- it was the sort with the coloured tips that you had to place into the corresponding hole.. grr  such a pain. When I moved from home i got one that you simply open up like an umbrella, such a breeze simple and easy. But one winter we did head out to the woods to cut our own tree, for my son. He was so proud when he dragged it out. His own little tree. Yes such happy memories! And now

 Vintage or Second hand  Phenomenon Are you into vintage fashion? As I  was looking at the fashion magazines there is always something that  reminds me of the past. Whether it is a hairstyle, jewelry or fashions. What was the IT item comes back in vogue. Designer handbags being one, Pradas nylon shoulder bag, or Fendi Baguette bag or the Jackie bag.  That is for designer pieces , but also  fashion is repeating itself, the fringe is again on the runway.   Even one famous model wore a vintage item, a 1950s designer dress. When the Oscars was held Julia Roberts wore a Vintage Valentino gown. Of course this is not something we can all do or afford , designer pieces. But to keep an eye out for good quality pieces, well made and stylish is what to look for. Natural materials are also a good choose.   THIS AND THAT  FLOWERS FOR FRIDAYS  a lovely rose plant will always cheer me or anyone up     these soft pink roses so delicate  , that and a interesting book, scented candles   make me happy   during this lockdown. SIMPLE DIY   a Lovely room diffuser. Now that we are in the 2nd full lockdown ,seeing how we will be stuck inside for awhile thought  it is nice to have  a room diffuser .   I decided to make one after reading a how to . So simple and easy .  Now i am  collecting bottles suitable to make more.  Finding the right type of bottle with a narrow opening ,  some bamboo sticks, essential oils , water and a carrier oil.    It suggested one can use vodka  as a carrier, the alcohol helps to dissipate the oil. Surprisingly it worked.  CARRY ON BAKING Yes that seems to have become a new hobby, baking.  Something different then a banana loaf.  Two of my favourite thengs , chocolate and strawberries.    So voila, a cake for a weekend treat.
