HANG THE HOLLY, LIGHT THE LIGHTS Nothing I love more during the holiday season is getting out the decorationS , setting up the tree and all the other festive decorations during this time. (and of course there has to be  christmas music playing and some goodies).  I am sure its the same for many people at this time of year. Here are just a few of my favourites NUTCRACKER & FRIENDS A small space to decorate that is fun and whimsical.  Adore those nutcracker figures! SANTA & FRIENDS a fun delightful tree  filled with stuffed toys for the big KID in everyone.  NATURE INDOORS table decoration a traditional christmas wreath with  added moss and branches for a woody nature feel. the HOLIDAY SPIRIT HO HO HO,  yes the holiday season is here. I know most people are super busy getting things done from decorating, baking or shopping, So to give you a bit of change perhaps a mini tour of Christmas markets-  in Europe are truly amazing in all the cities. Today I thought I would share some sights from the Christkindle markt. There are many more wonderful markets to see all around the city. It is one of the best ways to spent the holidays. WORRY , WORRY , WORRY. We all have someone on the Christmas list that we find   hard to find that perfect gift. Be it friends, family or a co- worker. I have always found it interesting what people give or get as gifts.  I have to say for myself, I have always received gifts that I liked , used or needed. Of course there were a few that needed to be exchanged for another size, but mostly it was perfect. Thinking back to gifts iI received from  my dear friends, they were always such great gifts and something I loved.  It was the thought and time that the person went to find a gift that was really  important and I felt so grateful for. CHOCOLATE LINED STREETS Who doesn't love CHOCOLATE? I  admit I have a weakness for chocolate, its a necessary thing. A must have and especially during the holidays.  So when i read this funny story from Germany - I was thinking wish I were there then! To scoop it up. A local chocolate maker had problems when all of a sudden things overflowed . Chocolate was  streaming down the street. A WINTERTIME DREAM December is the most amazing time in most European cities. The most visited places are of course the Christmas markets.  The markets are so idyllic looking with the small wooden huts  decorated with fresh green boughs, lights and of course decorations. There are so many wonderful things to see and buy. Chocolates, candle holders, souvenirs, woodcrafts and woolies.  STROLLING THE MARKETS WINTER IS THE MOST AMAZING TIME IN THE CITY.  ALL THE CHRISTMAS MARKETS ARE FINALLY OPENED AND MOST  ARE AMAZING.  THE PEOPLE, THE LIGHTS ,THE DECORATIONS, THE WEIHNACHT PUNCH AND SO SO MUCH MORE. The famous Stephansdom and the market street located in the centre of the city and a major shopping area to stroll through. DAYDREAMING FRIDAYS Well the month of June went by so quickly, July came faster then expected. Seems like each year zooms by faster and faster...( hmm , is that because getting older) . Oh well there are so many things to look forward to in the summer.  Of course the summer holidays, travel plans are probably the biggest things one thinks about-  but sometimes it is the small things that are the memorable things. A few summertime things that I think of when the summer heat arrives like......... Great sandy beaches and soaking up the warm sunshine   riding a  PINK VESPA somewhere in ITALY of course Spending time out on the water   and more lounging  is not a bad idea. Eating loads of watermelon  and finally sitting around the CAMPFIRE. SO WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS OR HOLIDAY PLANS?

the viennese style Every where you walk in the city there are streets lite up  and cafes to sit and  enjoy the famous coffee shops in  the city , the Schwarzberg or  the famous Sachers . Christmas markets are filled with people, streets are lite with the most spectacular lights that stretch along the pedestrian walks  like huge chandeliers. This is one of the most popular places to be during the holidays.   But a definite must see in this beautiful city of Vienna. Oh but there is so so much more to see and do , its endless.  Here are just a few sights to see in the evening. I hope to share more of the sights in the city here, so stay posted.

ALL THE STOCKINGS IN A ROW  The traditional Christmas stocking is a must have. And there are so many to pick from. The cute kiddy ones, the traditional red and whites or the glamorous type  . Lately I have  a love for  plaid and it is a bit of traditional print to have during the holidays. A few prints in plaid would look great hanging on the door, or bedposts,  and the fireplace if you have one.   So to make it more part of a tradition with a stocking,  decided to get to work on  creating a rustic faux fireplace.  There really isn't much place for a real one in an apartment but with some ideas of what a wintery fireplace brings to mind, it was top on the list to get this holiday. THE CHRISTMAS TREE.. THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE FOR THE HOLIDAYS. . A BEAUTIFUL FRESH CUT TREE IS REALLY SPECIAL, FIRST FOR THE SMELL - LIKE HAVING THE OUTDOORS IN  YOUR HOME. I CAN RECALL AS KID GOING OUT TO FIND THE SPECIAL TREE AND SETTING UP  WITH LIGHTS AND ICICLES WAS SO EXCITING. BUT MOM WAS NOT SO EXCITED AFTER THE NEEDLES CAME OFF AND LEFT A MESS OR THE CAT WOULD JUMP ON IT TO GRAB THE HANGING DECORATIONS .  YES SOME FUNNY MEMORIES. SO FINDING A TREE AND KEEPING IT FRESH AND BEAUTIFUL THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS THE CHALLENGE. BIG  OR SMALL  SUCH A WONDERFUL THING TO ENJOY OVER THE HOLIDAYS!! SOME TIPS TO BUY A NATURAL TREE.  FIRST PICKING  A FRESH TREE THE NEEDLES DO NOT BREAK IF BENT. UNDER THE BARK  IT SHOULD BE WHITE GREEN, NOT BROWNISH STORING THE TREE IS MOST IMPORTANT , KEEP IT COOL AND MOIST. STORE OUTSIDE TILL TIME TO SET UP. KEEP THE NETTING ON IT- THIS HELPS IT KEEP MO...

EVERY THING IS SO SPECIAL AT CHRISTMAS TIME.  TIME SPEND WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, MUSIC, THE BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS TREES, CHRISTMAS STREETS LIGHTS VERY WHERE. DELICIOUS COOKIES AND FOODS. PLAYING WITH THE KIDS AND WARM DRINKS, EGGNOG OR PUNCH  THE FIRST SNOWFALL, SKIING, OUT SKATING  IN THE MORNING…. SO SO MANY WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS MOMENTS. THIS IS WHAT IS SPECIAL FOR ME -  THOSE WONDERFUL MOMENTS.   IT IS THE BEST GIFT  TO CHERISH.
