what to eat?// lifestyle, foods

WONDERING WHAT TO EAT The month of January was the labelled Veganuary month. As the new year started people will have made some resolutions,  to maybe make some changes in their lives from exercise to diets. As the vegan diet is becoming so popular in places, especially for the millennials. Perhaps also because of the climate change factor  being in the news , and how we should cut down on eating meat because the industry contributes alot to climate change. There are many reasons. But I am not one to jump on the bandwagon that quickly,  of course I realize there are things that we can do to help . So  my main change has been to limit flying, and travel via train when possible. and the many other things. ( like Recycling and Reusing items.) VS PLANT BASED DIETS So back to the main topic of foods and veganism. Why the interest? Well I like to read articles on health, sciences and environment.  Veganism  is a bit of all of that really. CELEBRITES,  BALLS & SKI RACING Well another week has flown by and already it is nearly the end of the month. I  still feel like in a daze as to how quickly the month has gone. Perhaps because there has been so much happening lately. THE GRAND BALLS The beginning of the ball season has begun, if you don't know, the city is known for so many balls. Some are big events with famous celebrities, royals and others invited or smaller ones that are very nice also. There is the Opernball the  most well known, others such as the Philharmonic ball, and many others from the  Physicans to Policemens , the Flowerball  and others. Philharmonic ball  SKIERS DREAM The mountains are also somewhere  where you might see a few hollywood stars i.e. Arnie : the big ski event(for the skiers ) is the Kitzbuehl downhill race. Held every year and is world famous.  It is considered the most dramatic scarey run and I can see why.  Just watching it live makes my hands s

TAKING IT EASY// lifestyle

SUNDAYS.... the best day of the week A do nothing day!  perhaps not, but it is a day where I like to relax, read, watch a movie. We had are first snowfall yesterday, I am like a kid when is snows, personally I love winter! Its the whiteness that covers the ground and makes everything look sparkly and fresh. And the idea of heading out to ski is also  why I love the winter season But there are days when I am looking forward to other things. Here are a few things I am looking forward to this year - the OSCARS - always loved to see the fashions, the stars and movies in general, so this year will be exciting.  (Brad Pitt is one of my favs to win)  SPRINGTIME - the garden  , lavender  and roses  are  my favourites and last summer had success with a lavender plant.  Lavender sachets for the room closet   are heavenly. Birthday TRIP - planning a trip is always something exciting, even a short weekend is wonderful.🎈🎉 The new BOND movie - action, 007 and

GETTING FIT  & FEELING GOOD The last few posts I wrote were about feeling good and how activity is so so important in our life. I am not keen on going to a gym  or running jogging, but lately  I have found one activity I really enjoy and that is Zumba. Best thing it is like dancing to music- with a lively beat. It was exhausting at first, but I find it is best to go at your own pace. With a new activity and all the movement I found i needed to change my outfit  and have more changes. It is so important to feel comfortable and not fuss over a top slipping up or pants not fitting right. Here are few of my favourites to try, first and most important are proper footwear. Next proper fitting top the holds the girls in place.  The pants again have to allow for free movement and be comfortable.  Breathable cotton mixes are the best.   A nice coverup i.e. jacket to wear  after is also a plus.

What to do in January? // lifestyle

HOW TO BEAT the JANUARY BLUES The month of January can sometimes feel bit like a dreary or boring time, especially after all the excitement and activities of December and the holidays.  But don't let it get you down, there are a lot of interesting things to do and see . Even if you live in a cold wintery climate.  IDEAS for WINTER FUN Winter is usually when we head to the trails to go cross country skiing, if you don't  have a set of skis rentals are a good way to try it out.  Its inexpensive and great exercise, plus FUN!  If you can't do that another fun activity is skating or tobaccaning. Pack some goodies hot chocolate or coffee and your ready to go.  Another fun activity are sleigh rides. If your not into outdoor things, there are things to try indoors, like rock climbing,  swimming. For art lovers a day trip to the museums or galleries is another nice way to spend the afternoon. OR try a day class in something you like whet

WALK OR RUN?? // lifestyle

MUSICAL WALKS I love to listen to music , whether driving in the car , while working or sitting at home.  But not only is a good to sooth or uplift your mood it also is great to listen to well exercising.  Seems that music is a good motivation  during walking also. So grab your earphones and runners and lets go......... WHY?  brisk" exercise seems to be particularly good for the heart and brain. stimulates the production of new brain cells, something which is certainly useful as you get older. walk briskly for 30 minutes a day to music brisk walkers live longer than those who prefer a more leisurely stroll.  short bursts of brisk walking seem to deliver more benefit and are often easier to manage, than trying to hit the 10,000 step target. brisk walking" is walking at around 100 paces a minute. listening to music like Dancing Queen by Abba or Hips Don't Lie by Shakira.*** walking briskly to the music saw slightly bigger improvements than thos

WHATS NEW?// lifestyle, fashion

NEW THINGS for a NEW YEAR Well the first week of 2020 is complete and there are many things to do or try.  I am not one to make a list of NEW YEARS resolutions in general -  more  a mental note to myself of what needs to be done or hopefully done.   But it is not always so simple to stick to new resolutions , as a study shows most people start well in the beginning and then the novelty wears off.   Be it  going to the gym or changing our diets things we all want to do ,  but perhaps don't enjoy it.  I think if you make a resolution it should be something you are interested in  or makes you feel happier or healthier. BECOMING VEGAN On that note, January is VEGANUARY month,  vegan diets are becoming more popular and  a more healthy lifestyle , I  could almost be a vegan, as I love fresh vegetables and fruits and not much meat, but I am not so keen on tofu burgers, sorry.   Also health wise there are some drawbacks to vegan diets, according to a he
