LIFE LATELY going green// lifestyle,

A GREEN THUMB? Hi everyone! Hope things are getting better  at  least. Well we are over the lockdown and soon some things will open ( restaurants, museums sport events) in the city. Meanwhile we are having some summertime temperatures that have brought the people outside more. So with the lovely weather  I started on more things  for the terrace area. First off some new plantings , and things we needed  HEAVELY SCENTS If you love flowers that give you a burst of colour and fragrant smell then I can suggest one plant that is heavenly for  your garden  or patio area. SWEET PEAS!  a n easy to grow climbing plant the grows to 1 - 2 meters high. and fills up the space with beautiful colours of pink, white, purple and red. They also attract butterflies  and they bloom from june to September. INSPIRATION IDE A for small areas  in pots NICE DIY IDEAS   Trellises  n NEVER ENOUGH ...... GETTING SET FOR EASTER// LIFESTYLE, DECOR, spring

ODE to SPRING There is one thing I have always liked to do when spring arrives and Easter weekend is near. Spring starts with flowers for inside or outside, the blooming branches set up on display, followed by a  change of dinnerware. I love to bring out the spring look dishes and enjoy our day with something cheery.  Now is the time for some cheering up..(another full lockdown). Adding some colour is always a cheer-me-up. So here are a few ideas to start the spring off. CHERRY BLOSSOMS  nothing is more spring then cherry blossoms , love the pink ! you can find several settings available. NATURE CALLS something so sweet about birds , the real start to springtime. GARDEN STYLE for the garden lovers these are perfect. LOVELY TABLE SETTING images . pinterest.  home depot,

LIFE LATELY books movies// Lifestyle, movies books

FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS Lately I have been reading and watched some amazing movies that  are animal related.  If you love animals too, then these movies or books might be of interest.  What drew me to the type of films is because the films depict REAL WOMEN who were unique , strong and amazing. Like Karin Blixen whose life took her from Europe to Africa. Another is Diane Fossey   and her dedication to protect the gorillas and lastly the story of June Adamson and the lion Elsa.  There is something about all these women that I admired and thought what amazing lives they had. So brave and strong they were. But I also was drawn to their stories because I love animals. As a kid growing up I would sometimes find small injured animals and bring them home. One was a small baby robin, or frog and salamanders. I always wanted to be a Veterinarian  or working with animals.  So of course a good movie with animals and humans  caring for them is something I lik...

LIFE LATELY Inspiration// Lifestyle, wellness, DIY

LIVE , LOVE & LAUGH  Well I hope everyone is handling these chaotic times, extended lockdowns, vaccine issues etc,.My mind went to overload last week, hearing the news. I just had to turn the news and all the other negative things off. Enough is Enough. It was time for a change and just to take care o f what I have control over. The other things I can't change I thought , so what to do....... start painting.  CREATIVE THERAPY I love art, going to the galleries and museums  , looking at the fabulous works of art from the masters. I remember the first time I saw Rembrandts night watch in  Amsterdam, it was astonishing and magnificent! It takes your breathe away.   So I checked out some paint kits to try.  What a wonderful way to spend the day. Its like creative therapy.  I think much needed in these trying times  for kids and adults. Love this whimsical art.. that makes one dream of things. MORNING LAUGHS Once you start to watch thes...

WEEKEND Delights // lifestyle

ITS the  WEEKEND -  hurray!!! So its another weekend, time to relax, catch up on chores or get in touch with friends, watch a movie, bake or play some games. Here are a few things I do enjoy to have or do on the weekends. HEALTHY TREATS My weekend treats for the mornings. usually a nice fresh bake bun , glass of juice milk, sometimes a coffee. But once in a while i will make myself a smoothy. A TREAT using up the bananas that are getting to ripe. A simple treat to make STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHY take some ice cubes, milk, plain yogurt,(or flavoured vanilla), orange juice toss into blender. then ADD fresh fruit i.e. bananas,  strawberries blend at high speed till ice cubes are chopped up. Serve in a tall glass with slice of fresh strawberry  . **You can use whatever fruit you like, raspberries, pineapple, orange, mango or add juice for more flavour. Also you can skip the ice cubes if you prefer.  I more or less go by consistency I like it to be more thick , ...

OCTOBER IDEAS// lifestyle, @home

🎃🍃 Happy October Everyone ! 🍁🍂🍂 Here the feeling of fall is in full swing, chilly crisp mornings and the  trees are turning golden. Its getting darker earlier too. I have to say I was a bit down when the flowers outside started to die off.  The terrace lost all the lovely colours that I loved to sit outside with over summer. But not to despair, there are things I can do to make sure we have some colours still and later in spring.   I got some heather to plant in the pots and it really revived the area with the colors of white, deep purples and crimson. It really adds a lot.  Plus they are winter hardy and should grow back. INSPIRATION  Love the natural look of this mix of heather and tree branches for fall image kreativne techniky cz INSPIRATION VAN GOGHS IRISES Another plan is get bulbs and plant them  now, so there are flowers and a burst of colour  for spring. The usual flower that comes to mind are tulips but there are many spring bulbs ...

CHANGES // lifestyle, @home, blogging

CHANGES....  NOT JUST THE SEASONS  I TS FALL AND WE CAN FEEL A CHANGE IN THE AIR.  IT HAS COOLED DOWN ALOT  AND THE WEEKEND WAS RAINY ALL DAY.  IT CERTAINLY FRESHENED THE AIR OUTSIDE. NEEDLESS TO SAY DIDNT GO ANYWHERE. STUCK CLOSE TO HOME AND BASICALLY PUTZED AROUND THE PLACE.  THE  USUAL WEEKEND HOUSEHOLD THINGS WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE TOPIC ON THIS POST. A FEW THINGS TO READ  (OR COMMENT ON) A FEW MONTHS AGO I READ AN INTERESTING ARTICLE ABOUT HOW THE WOMEN IN INDIA WERE PROTESTING OR PETITIONING  THAT THE MEN NEED TO HELP OUT MORE AROUND THE HOUSE.  HMM  THUMBS UP TO THAT.   THE WOMEN ARE WORKING AS WELL AS THE MEN , BUT WITH THE LOCKDOWN, THEIR HOUSEKEEPERS WERE NOT ABLE TO COME WORK.  SO THEY WERE LEFT TO DO THE WORK THEMSELVES.  NOT MANY HOUSEHOLDS IN EUROPE OR NORTH AMERICA  WILL HAVE A HOUSEKEEPER OR EVEN AN NANNY. (PERHAPS THE RICHER  AFFLUENT ONLY) BUT I THINK OVERALL IT IS NOT COMMON.  THERE I...

5 WAYS to KEEP PESTS AWAY// @home, lifestyle

THE not so GREAT OUTDOORS How was your weekend ?  We are in the midst of some hot weather here and the best place to sit  is outside in the shade and cooler spot , no direct sun. But it never seems to fail the pesky pests come around. Those dreaded mosquitos !!!   I am always getting bite by them. So what to do  or somethings to help stop the bugs from bugging you . Its said not to wear any fragrances, so perfume colognes and even the scent of soap is an attraction. Another idea is to plant certain flowers that repel those pests.  So that sounds like a great idea. LAVENDER is a good start, not only does it repel pests it also smells divine and is useful for other things, like to hang in your clothes closet to deter pests . BASIL another super idea, if you like to have some herbs in your garden or containers,  its a great idea. Not only is it good to add to your salads , it too works to deter mosquitos. ROSEMARY another h...
