A Model Diversity

DIVERSITY IN MODELLING When we think of models I am sure most think of young girls of 16 or 18 years old, and the more recognizable models such a Kate, Bella, Naomi or Claudia. All are a major player in the fashion industry.    Seeing more diversity is a great thing. Diversity is important but we don't see it much on the runways.  But it is changing slowly and there are some older models, curvy models and many others. I recently came across an article where a woman in  her 60s has started to model. The article     HERE   She appeared in a HM campaign wearing a swimsuit.  So wow much has changed. It is wonderful woman of all ages being shown. I can recall a woman saying , 'After a certain age women become invisible'. it was a bit of shock to hear. My thought how can that be, why?   The reason basically is the fashion industry or designers use only the youthful girls  and seldom do you see woman of certain ag...

FASHION PHOTOS//fashion

THE IDEAL IMAGE We all have looked at the fashion magazines, instagram or advertisements that show the perfect looking girl or guy with the perfect figures, smiles, hair .... and think it be nice to look like that too. So thin, the long legs or 6 pack stomach, the perfect shape or no wrinkles . Well reality is a lot of those images have been altered . I am sure most of us know this,  but believe we change our bodies to look thinner too.  Or if we buy a certain product we will have no wrinkles. Woman and young girls are mostly effected by this steady onslaught of media. and is most likely the reason for the increase in anorexia . The pressure to be perfect or ideal look. Well finally  France has made it illegal to not indicate that any image in magazines or ads  has to state that it has been photoshopped or an  'Edited photo .'  This is a step in the right direction.  I for one admire the young woman that are standing up to the media ...

THE PERFECT MODEL//fashion

TO SKINNY OR TO FAT It has finally happened,  2 major big fashion houses DIOR and Gucci have decided that the models they have on the runways will have to be a certain size. No more super skinny  and hurray to that. Time that it happened and shows that woman need to be healthy and not overly thin.  Of course the fashion houses , fashion designers want to show the  clothes so they appeal to women consumers. But most  woman are not size 0 , or model size. Don't get me wrong I love fashions and  all the beautiful clothes.  But fit and healthy is important for young girls growing up . Its something when i was younger never thought about, being super thin . I suppose I was more a tomboy or sport lover. So worrying about my size never really mattered.  Of course now as older, its even more important but sadly much harder. No longer the size small or medium.     But more important is to be healthy, whatever ones size. Be it a...

the PLUS factor in Fashion

The fashion world and industry have a new MODEL now, the PLUS size  category . Lately there has been a lot of news on the models that are  so called plus size. From Ashley Graham making news as the first so called plus size model on the Sports illustrated cover and others like the 25 year old UK model Iskra Lawrence. Well its about time the fashion industry came to see the light - not all woman are size 2 and 6 feet tall and look  the same .  If we were all the same size , then there be only 1 look , 1 size and  it would be a bit boring  .  People come in all sizes, shapes and colors  and are not a simply a one look or size. So now the fashion industry has a new prospective on REAL woman and is making changes to INCLUDE more of the norm   (mind you even these models are taller  and plus size 14 or so) This to me is not really PLUS size and these beautiful girls  are more curvy or LUSH looking. And why is it so importan...
