A GREEN THUMB? Hi everyone! Hope things are getting better  at  least. Well we are over the lockdown and soon some things will open ( restaurants, museums sport events) in the city. Meanwhile we are having some summertime temperatures that have brought the people outside more. So with the lovely weather  I started on more things  for the terrace area.  LIVE , LOVE & LAUGH  Well I hope everyone is handling these chaotic times, extended lockdowns, vaccine issues etc,.My mind went to overload last week, hearing the news. I just had to turn the news and all the other negative things off. Enough is Enough. It was time for a change and just to take care o f what I have control over. The other things I can't change I thought , so what to do....... start painting.  CREATIVE THERAPY I love art, going to the galleries and museums  , looking at the fabulous works of art from the masters. I remember the first time I saw Rembrandts night watch in  Amsterdam, it was astonishing and magnificent! It takes your breathe away.   So I checked out some paint kits to try.  What a wonderful way to spend the day. THE  ALL -IN-ONE  ROOM The Plan There is one room in my home that we have needed to work on for sometime.  It was a combination of bedroom, workspace with a desk, a shelf and cabinet unit,  4 bookcases  that were overfilled and not stable, and small sofa  and a complete mess. (my first surprise when I moved here) So we started to empty out all the books. Brought in a solid unit , a Pax and Kallax shelfs to unify and hold all the books and computer things.  Now its time to work on the rest of the space to give it a FRESH clean look. Firstly a space for guests or somewhere to sit and read.  A room that was bright, light and almost spa like. Decided on a rattan fold out , some nesting tables that are easy to move around and a spot to set a book, cup down on, some DIY pillows for colour and a nice plant.    Work out area is  set up by the windows, next to the plant-- and the massage chair for my achey back after all this work.  

  HI EVERYONE How was your first week of 2021?  I have to say the week started slowly after the holidays. We are still in lockdown , so we are limited to staying home , only trips to shop essentials- so there really isn't much new.   Like most of us during lockdown we have a certain daily routine. I started to remove some of the christmas things, but left a few things out like the lite houses,wintery snow globes, and my favourite string of lights that look like candles.  Keeping the wintery feel in the room with candles and some greenery DIY PROJECT I love the look when the tree branches are covered in frost, the silvery white that glistens with the sunshine looks so beautiful.   WHAT WAS POPULAR in 2020 Top posts of the year were a mix,  but the one that was most popular was the TOUCH OF GOLD, followed by fashions, and people seemed to be interested in a few gardening DIYS, which was a kind of a surprise .  SIMPLE FUN IDEAS for HALLOWEEN This year is totally different to any other time, some of us are restricted to staying close to home , limited contact etc. I know it does not make for much fun but as the saying goes, If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.   Make it fun even if home . The fun thing I like about the day are the costumes,  a chance to get creative, Costumes Ideas LE MIME outfit , this is super simple, all you need to get from your closet is  a white shirt or t shirt, black slacks, a neck kerchief, pair of gloves, beret , suspenders, and face paint, .  VOILA  GROOVY B EATNIK LOOK the 60s recreated,  another simple outfit,  black slacks or legging,  WHITE top, a beret, pair of black sunglasses, flat shoes i.e. ballet  EXOTIC From Genies to belly dancers or even a gypsy. A SPOOKY HALLOWEEN  Halloween is quickly approaching and for those that like to get into the mood there are plenty of fun DIYs and decorating ideas to find and make. I especially like the new look of painted pumpkins,  though not scarey they add a fun detail to the decor. some other things I find are fun  are the hanging bats. Another simple DIY is a scarecrow, simply get an old pair of jeans, a shirt , a hat, suspenders and stuff with newspapers, Same for the head, use a plain pillowcase to set hat on top.   September .... fall and what to expect.  Well there are a few fashion shows  but this year it doesn't really feel so Special or as exciting sadly.  I guess with all the things going on in the world, fashions aren't TOP of the List this year.   After being stuck at home for the last few months, the only thing that is of interest is wearing comfortable clothes,  clearing out things and fixing up  inside or outside, setting up fitness space and planning the garden .  This week was such great weather , we could sit outside and really enjoy it more. But i noticed the flowers have started to die back, leaves are brown , so it looks dreadful. Then a idea popped into my head - why not try composting?  With some of the household  and garden things,  it is possible to make compost. LETS GET CRAFTY Well we all have had the latest news and there are many changes. things happening so fast. But most important is  to stay Calm, keep busy and just relax. We all need to follow the guidelines and keep our homes and hands clean. As in many places, all schools have closed  so kids will be home for some time. NEW THINGS for a NEW YEAR Well the first week of 2020 is complete and there are many things to do or try.  I am not one to make a list of NEW YEARS resolutions in general -  more  a mental note to myself of what needs to be done or hopefully done.   But it is not always so simple to stick to new resolutions , as a study shows most people start well in the beginning and then the novelty wears off.   Be it  going to the gym or changing our diets things we all want to do ,  but perhaps don't enjoy it.  I think if you make a resolution it should be something you are interested in  or makes you feel happier or healthier. BECOMING VEGAN On that note, January is VEGANUARY month,  vegan diets are becoming more popular and  a more healthy lifestyle , I  could almost be a vegan, as I love fresh vegetables and fruits and not much meat, but I am not so keen on tofu burgers, sorry.   Also healt...

FEELING STRESSED? Relax , take a deep breathe. Good advise I am sure, but I am sure many people feel like that, overstressed with the holidays. After all the Black Friday and CyberMonday sales  it can feel like one is missing out on the best stuff. Maybe so, but for me my idea is there are always sales and things to buy.  So I don't feel the pressure to go crazy or worry. Perhaps my mindset has changed over the years or the fact I am living in a different country now. Whatever it feels great to not feel that pressure and just enjoy the moments. This year I thought I go the DIY route and make some stocking stuffers to give and add on a few things .  After starting this little project I have to say it was SO relaxing and enjoyable. INSPIRATION FOR THE HOLIDAYS The Christmas season is fast approaching and there is always much to do.
