 A CAMPING WE WILL GO............. Do you like to go camping?? Well summer would not be summer without a camp trip of sorts. A quick trip to get into the  spirit of camping, right in the city. There are a few campsites within the city that are ideal for visitors or anyone who wants to have a bit of a break or try out their camp equipment before going on a bigger adventure. Also, it is a safe way to get kids use to the idea. The idea of camping so close is one way to explore another part of the city. There are 3 such places here - the Wien West, Wien SUD and Neue Donau locations. There are trailer spots and tenting places  at all of them. Whats really nice about these places there is easy access to sightseeing places, like the Schoenbrunn palace, the Donau insel and other places. There a full facilities for tenters, showers, kitchens ,  Wien west offers smaller room rentals too. ( the basics - bed, dining place, patio area. WIEN WEST   MINI SHOP /...

 HAPPY MAY 1ST The day is celebrated here as a holiday and through most of Europe. It is a holiday to celebrate all the workers.  Usually rallies are held,picnics, music and just getting together.   But this year  was less of an event ,though few people did gather in the city centre. The MAYPOLE DANCE🌷🌺  another event held in some European countries is the MAY DAY  flag pole dance, a tall pole is erected atop is a large wreath made of branches with long colourful ribbons dangling from the pole , young kids dancing around it holding onto the ribbons as it slowly gets wrapped around the pole. A every  fun way to welcome the new season of summer.

DO YOU LIKE TO DRESS UP? As a kid we probably liked to dress up, trying different things, or playing different characters. And of course it was always fun to wear costumes.  Do you recall your most favourite outfit?   Well later this month it is time to dress up in costumes.  IT'S CARNIVAL TIME!! 🎉🎈🎊 I t hink everywhere in the world everyone loves a carnival, from young to old. This is one event that is really popular and a fun time. There are several places to go to , one place that holds a parade is at the Prater Amusement park. Its usually filled with people all dressed in costumes  for FASCHING , as it is called in german. There are live marching bands, music and dances held throughout the country. THE HEATWAVE HAS ARRIVED!!!! We had another long weekend here. It is always nice to have a break and be able to take a few small weekend trips or work on things around the home .... but  and this is one thing about the month of June over here- the temperatures.  Never would I have expected such HOT weather in Austria. I think more Arizona or Asia or Australia for hot places. Again the summer heatwave is hitting Europe. I never thought it be so bad, I can recall being out in 32 degree weather , but it was a drier heat . Over here it is sweltering and humid... a killer! The morning temperature of 28C  before 9 and humidity of 67% is NOT for me!! We were thinking to taking the  river cruise to Bratislava  a short trip of 75 minutes for weekend, but  the heat was to much to handle.  So instead we watched the French open tennis final; what an exciting game.  The young Austrian player Dominic Thiem is one to watch.
