I am  so excited to be celebrating new years eve and there are so many amazing things to do and see  in the city. The streets will be filled with people and music, dancing  live band, and presentation on big screen by the Operahaus.    From casual outings to dressed up events, balls to disco something for everyone. even kids  too. The morning you can start with a run along the Ringstrasse then later get ready to party in the center of city. WOMEN , GIRLS , LADIES I am so impressed with this article on the BBC . 100 women in 2016 and surprise is this is not about the politicians , celebrities  etc. It is about women and those that have made changes in many different ways. Well  her interest was in fashion, she learnt sewing and eventually started to design clothes.  Now she has her clothing on the runways in London. HOLIDAYS and all the things to do and see. Parties, events or just a evening out for dinner , drinks with friends. and the outfits to wear for all those outings, hmmm yes it can be daunting or maybe not. I for one love to dress up, but sometimes its nice to go with a more casual look. and still look a bit partyish. I love anything with some sparkle or extra details.  This one sweatshirt was for me a YESSSSS. Christmas traditions are always so interesting I find.  Most of us are familiar with Santa Claus, North Pole and the elves made popular in movies  But there are some really interesting European traditions that I was not  familiar with St Nick  I knew about  - but there is a very interesting tradition in Austria that is new to me that is KRAMPUS.  Today , December 5th is KRAMPUS NACHT a tradition that started in rural areas of the Alps and is still part of the holiday events.  Krampus is a scary figure that visits the naughty kids and  definitely scares anyone, kids or adults. KRAMPUS looks like a large wooly goat with  huge curled horns  and a gnarly grin. Men will dress up with a sheep like cape and painted faces and those huge horns, and run through the streets and give you a good scare. You can experience this event  in the rural towns  and in the cities too. Local pubs will have  a visit from Krampus. or the Christmas markets will have a Krampuslauf (Krampus run) .

THE CHRISTMAS TREE.. THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE FOR THE HOLIDAYS. . A BEAUTIFUL FRESH CUT TREE IS REALLY SPECIAL, FIRST FOR THE SMELL - LIKE HAVING THE OUTDOORS IN  YOUR HOME. I CAN RECALL AS KID GOING OUT TO FIND THE SPECIAL TREE AND SETTING UP  WITH LIGHTS AND ICICLES WAS SO EXCITING. BUT MOM WAS NOT SO EXCITED AFTER THE NEEDLES CAME OFF AND LEFT A MESS OR THE CAT WOULD JUMP ON IT TO GRAB THE HANGING DECORATIONS .  YES SOME FUNNY MEMORIES. SO FINDING A TREE AND KEEPING IT FRESH AND BEAUTIFUL THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS THE CHALLENGE. BIG  OR SMALL  SUCH A WONDERFUL THING TO ENJOY OVER THE HOLIDAYS!! SOME TIPS TO BUY A NATURAL TREE.  FIRST PICKING  A FRESH TREE THE NEEDLES DO NOT BREAK IF BENT. UNDER THE BARK  IT SHOULD BE WHITE GREEN, NOT BROWNISH STORING THE TREE IS MOST IMPORTANT , KEEP IT COOL AND MOIST. STORE OUTSIDE TILL TIME TO SET UP. KEEP THE NETTING ON IT- THIS HELPS IT KEEP MOISTURE IN NEEDLES SO THEY DONT DRY OUT.

EVERY THING IS SO SPECIAL AT CHRISTMAS TIME.  TIME SPEND WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS, MUSIC, THE BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS TREES, CHRISTMAS STREETS LIGHTS VERY WHERE. DELICIOUS COOKIES AND FOODS. PLAYING WITH THE KIDS AND WARM DRINKS, EGGNOG OR PUNCH  THE FIRST SNOWFALL, SKIING, OUT SKATING  IN THE MORNING…. SO SO MANY WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS MOMENTS. THIS IS WHAT IS SPECIAL FOR ME -  THOSE WONDERFUL MOMENTS.   IT IS THE BEST GIFT  TO CHERISH.
