Flying high // travel

B  Time to Fly   Sumer holidays are around the corner and deciding where to go or what to pack can e daunting experience.  So what to pack ? Well after reading how some airlines charge passenger to check the baggage. First I believe the budget airlines started , but now the big name ones have also started to charge it! American Airlines , southwest , Air Canada .  And the extra cost if is a jackpot for the airlines.  I have not travel with the budget lines but have used some of the others mentioned  and  I won’t be booking any trips with them!  Really what do they think? If the operate a service to transport you and your belongs  that should be included , NOT an extra expense.  Give you an idea of what they collect in these extra fees  then read this report via BBC.  Truthfully people need to tell these companies  NO .  Even a handbag is next to the list.   They are making BILLIONS from from these extra fees!...

THE THREE WELLS..... // Lifestyle, fashion, travel wellness

WELL READ , WELL TRAVELLED & WELL DRESSED These words popped into my head the other day.... thinking about how some people are just that.  Someone you meet randomly and started a conversation with.  Its those few moments that you get a impression of what  that person is like.  Impressions ... how quickly the mind makes a mental note of the meeting.   Is there someone you know that strikes you like that? WELL READ Reading.. I love books to look at for inspiration, for letting my mind wonder and dream, or solve the story  Mysteries were one of my favourites. During the pandemic I thought i would look at reading some books that I might not normally read, so my idea was to start to read some of the books that were awarded the Nobel Peace prize. A good idea!  So to start the reading journey i started with love.(love in the time of Cholera)  and i am still reading it. Its a love story and one worth a read if you like romance. What books have y...

LIFE LATELY - Time to Travel// Lifestyle

TRAVELLING AGAIN? Last weekend was a long weekend , so what to do? Well the weather was not so great, No plans for enjoying the outdoors.  Watched  some classic films with Audrey,  the Breakfast at Tiffany's, then her major film role the Roman Holiday film. First time I have seen it, so was amazing to see a young Audrey. She was only 24 years old  when she made it and she won the Oscars best actress award.   Which brings me to the  idea of Travel.  Rome , Venice or  Paris?   Lately its been reported the people are booking trips or taking trips to the sunny, warm places like Italy, Spain and Greece , now that many have been vaccinated. I prefer to wait till later before we travel anywhere.  Will be nice to just take some time and enjoy the city again,  For now  a staycation is a good idea. NATURE in CITY Well talking about the city, I came across an interest webpage with a live cam of nesting Falcons.  There is someth...

ENJOYING THE WEEKEND @the PARK// Lifestyle, Travel

PARKS , PICNICS & CAFES A sunny weekend outing  to the parks is always a good idea. This park is also a historical site, back 100s of years this was where battles were fought and won. The  armies of Austria, Bavaria, Poles and Saxons stopped the invasion by the Ottoman army . The park is Turkenschanze now it is a wonderful place to spend the day and enjoy the area. Walking the many paths, seeing the tower and being right in the city. The site is now a beautiful park  with water features, monuments , gardens  and much more. ENJOYING THE WEEKEND @market// Lifestyle, travel,

WHEN IN ........ rome , paris or vienna  go to the Market. The one place to really get a feel for a city or mingle with the locals, is to go to a outdoor market. Europe I would say is famous for its markets. Some are huge and then there are smaller ones in different towns or cities. I have always loved to wander around a market , get the fresh products, new things to try and enjoy sitting and watching the people. Here there is one market that is most popular the Naschmarkt. The market is open 7 days a week and there are many places to explore - the foods , the crafts, hat makers,  cafes,  it is endless. On Fridays one can check out the flea market for interesting  and unique things. Whatever you fancy you can probably find it there. 🍉SUMMERTIME FAVOURITES 🍒🍒🍓 Fresh strawberries , anything with strawberries, strawberry daiquiri (my favourite),  strawberry shortcake,  strawberry pies.........  ...

TAKE a TOUR// lifestyle, travel, @home

PARIS or Vienna? bOTH please The idea of seeing Paris is something I think almost everyone wishes or wants to see.  Paris has always been the city of romance, fashion, museums and palaces.  But I can honestly say, I think Vienna also has a lot to offer. Here are just a few of the  amazing places. It  definitely is a city filled with stunning architecture, tons of cafes for the coffee lover, plenty of parks to wander about, a lot of green spaces and fun places too. A bit of sight seeing around the city. No1 Museums there are several amazing museums and galleries. The Belvedere , Artmusuems  Kunsthistorische , Augarten, Klimt house, Seccession, Mozart haus No2   Palaces such as the famous Schonnbrun the former Kaiser residence, the Belvedere and smaller ones within the city.   No3   Cafes  one can find so many all around the city, the more popular ones, okay. but there  are small very quaint and cozy ones ...

EASY DOES IT// Lifestyle, life, after Covid

ANOTHER WEEK to RELAX As most countries in Europe have started to slowly get back to some kind of normal, kids back to school, shops opening up  and sport events (Soccer fans are happy ). I am still leary of how people seem to ignore the social distancing or face mask requirements.  I am certainly not going to places that are overcrowded or be to close to people not yet.    ( unfortunately I am a high risk to get) I would caution to wait till a vaccine is available against it. But on a lighter note , there are things to enjoy that have opened and with limited access, reservations needed.  Vienna is known for its great Cafe culture , its part of the cities beauty  to sit in the grandiose cafes enjoy a delicious dessert and read the papers, thats what the cafes are known for. There are so many famous cafes in the city, the Landemann  near the City hall, Schwarzenberg near the fountain monument, the famous Sacher is a must...

FUN in FEBRUARY// lifestyle, travel

FUN THINGS in FEBRUARY 🎩🎶💃 This month will be one filled with some very exciting events . February is all about dressing up, in many different ways. Firstly it is the ball season , so the setting is formal wear.  The grande dame of the Ball season is the Opernball held every year near the end of the month. Its held in the magnificent opera house , a very ornate and beautiful building built in the 1860s is located in the centre (easy to get  to). The opera house will be the showcase of the city with many people attending, the usual officials, businesses,  stars and celebrities. This years invited celebrity was Lindsey Vonn , but she was unable to attend. Instead an Italian movie star will be the guest. Past famous guests were Sophia Loren, Hilary Swank,  Goldie Hawn and many others. Well here is a peek at the opera house and the interiors.  The balcony areas are like private booths  that are set up with a table and chair...

Whats NEW? // travel, lifestyle

CELEBRITES,  BALLS & SKI RACING Well another week has flown by and already it is nearly the end of the month. I  still feel like in a daze as to how quickly the month has gone. Perhaps because there has been so much happening lately. THE GRAND BALLS The beginning of the ball season has begun, if you don't know, the city is known for so many balls. Some are big events with famous celebrities, royals and others invited or smaller ones that are very nice also. There is the Opernball the  most well known, others such as the Philharmonic ball, and many others from the  Physicans to Policemens , the Flowerball  and others. Philharmonic ball  SKIERS DREAM The mountains are also somewhere  where you might see a few hollywood stars i.e. Arnie : the big ski event(for the skiers ) is the Kitzbuehl downhill race. Held every year and is world famous.  It is considered the most dramatic scarey run and I can see why.  ...

TAKING IT EASY// lifestyle

SUNDAYS.... the best day of the week A do nothing day!  perhaps not, but it is a day where I like to relax, read, watch a movie. We had are first snowfall yesterday, I am like a kid when is snows, personally I love winter! Its the whiteness that covers the ground and makes everything look sparkly and fresh. And the idea of heading out to ski is also  why I love the winter season But there are days when I am looking forward to other things. Here are a few things I am looking forward to this year - the OSCARS - always loved to see the fashions, the stars and movies in general, so this year will be exciting.  (Brad Pitt is one of my favs to win)  SPRINGTIME - the garden  , lavender  and roses  are  my favourites and last summer had success with a lavender plant.  Lavender sachets for the room closet   are heavenly. Birthday TRIP - planning a trip is always something exciting, even a short weekend is wond...
