  CELEBRATE PUNK DESIGNER JUST THIS month it was Vivienne Westwood's 80th birthday. The fashion designer who brought PUNK fashions to the forefront. Her designs were over the top , colourful, eccentric and I think abit wild.  She still is designing and even some of her designs were part of the Life ball held here in the past, she also designed the costumes for the ballet performance for New years.  Known for her flaming orange reddish hair , bold clothes - she is a woman of her times, the punk era of UK.   MY PICKS FOR SPRING     Yes spring has arrived and we have some amazing warm temperatures the last week and this week.  I am ready to lose the loungewear and find some nice dresses to give me a lift. I think we can all use a lift somedays. A mood boost of sorts. THE CLASSIC TRENCH COAT The Trench coat, a almost iconic coat that has been worn by so many from actors in films to everyday people. Think of Bogie in Casablanca, or Deneuve .  Its a love affair and one can understand why.  1960s film umbrellas of Cherbourg latest look of Catherine Deneuve on magazine cover modelling St Laurent If you think about it the trench coat is a very versatile coat, wearing it with slacks, jeans or even a pair of jogging pants to   dresses. I have one that is vintage with a wool liner, the shade is not the best on me.  So finding a newer one was a option. I found a  nice one in a nice caramel shade, not to light or dark.  It is the classic double breasted with the belt , but without the shoulder epaulets which I like, a more streamline look. PLANNING A TRIP? WHAT TO WEAR? It s been awhile since we had a trip anywhere, with lockdowns, travel restrictions and quarantines , it seems like travelling anywhere is not possible.  I use to take a few trips  to far off places, but after a long haul flight of  so so many hours, it does not appeal to me as much anymore. Running  through large airports for connecting flights, finding the terminals and the lineups - well you get the idea. Airports use to be fun but now i find them to overwhelming and more traveller pushing or running you over with the cases is  like being at an amusement park. I have more or less fallen in love with train travel, it takes longer but it is so much more soothing. Plus more comfortable and relaxing. Plus better for the environmen t, which is very important! SHOP MY CLOSET LOOK My ideal outfit to wear , especially if going via train are a pair of slacks , a top, tank top or t-shirt, flat shoes and a good size tote. ...

READY FOR WHAT EVER Well the weather is a bit unsettled, mixed with sun and showers-  so wondering what to wear can be a challenge.  One needs to always carry an umbrella or wear a trench coat . Here are some great choices for this fall. CELEBRATION TIME! A big surprise , Le Chic Mode is 4. I hadn't realized that in August it has been 4 years of blogging. It really seems like only yesterday that the idea of blogging came to be. I had my doubts about it at first then I thought why not. It's now or never! But another surprise was just recently being featured  on a list of TOP 100 women's fashion blogs.  WEEKENDS ARE FOR SHOPPING (dreaming) Yes i love to check out the online shops  , especially the vintage resale shops There are many gorgeous things to find ..... ahhh yes how wonderful it is! GAGA FOR GUCCI it is always fun to check out the resale sites to see what is available.  It has become a bit of ritual on weekend mornings. , do you look at those things also? Well Gucci is so popular for many influencers on instagram i was curious to see what i would find - so here are a few pieces. Starting small with this stylish key ring or purse clip. CAFTAN & COMFORT I was never one to wear caftans , a maxi dress for summer was more what i like, but I found this one caftan that was to me simply gorgeous . The colors and the print  of gold , blue, accents of black and  other colors was just to lovely to resist. So I bought a long  and a short one. It looks so exotic  with some golden accessories , perhaps it is why I like the beautiful prints on saris. The silks and details of some are absolutely exquisite . So when  the summer heat starts here or when on holidays I plan to wear it a lot. The silkiness and comfort of it is amazing.   And the shorter version is going to be my go to coverup over a swim suit. So I am a convert.   A caftan or two might be my go to holiday item, paired with some simple flat sandals , and VOILA  a bit of chic . WELL ONE THING ,, I HAVE NOT ADJUSTED TO IS THE WEATHER. ALWAYS THOUGHT OF IT AS BEING A SNOWY WINTERY COUNTRY.BUT REALLY  VIENNA IS MORE GREY AND RAINY IN THE WINTER MONTHS , WITH NO SNOW. WELL ONLY A SLIGHT DUSTING OF THE WHITE STUFF I AM NOT REALLY FOND OF P UFFER COATS… REMINDS ME OF THE G OODYEAR MAN.  I LIKE A  WOOL JACKET  OR A NICE FAUX FUR LOOK. I HAVE A CLOSET OF COATS,,  LONGER COATS,  SHORTER JACKETS, A LEATHER BOMBER, A PEACOAT NICE ROOMY FOR THE EXTRA SWEATERS. BUT ALL IN BLACK. SO WHEN I FOUND THIS OFF WHITE SHORT COAT, I COULD NOT RESIST. I LOVE THE  BIG FURRY COLLAR, NICE TO KEEP WARM FROM THE BLOWING WINDS AND THE FURRY CUFFS.
