THE SMALL THINGS// lifestyle, tip

SMALL THINGS in LIFE I am not sure if it is cooler weather or me getting older (can't be) but whatever it is when fall comes around its feels like it is time to bring out the candles, grab the cozy blankets ,  bake apple pies and watch movies. All of these things I love. Movies especially. I love to follow the film festivals and see what is new .  Small Things Last weekend was one of those , (after the museum visits).  Foreign films have always interested me.(though it was not so easy to find them )  This year at the Cannes film festival the films screened included those directed by Tarantino(once upon a time in hollywood), Pedro Almodovar , Boon Joon-hu and many others.  So I am curious to check them out when in theatres.  Meanwhile I found one film by Almodovar that sounded interesting and is based on the Canadian author Alice Munro. The film is  called Julieta -  a film that takes you on the journey of the life of a...

The SELFIE & MUSEUMS// lifestyle, event

MUSEUMS & SELFIES This weekend it is the LANGE NACHT IM MUSEEM , (long night in the museum) event.  Amazingly this  event has be held now for 20 years and for me is the highlight of  fall. I admit , I am a big museum lover ! I could spend hours or days wandering around a museum. I find it so interesting to see and explore all the different exhibits .  So of course this weekend will be a chance for many people to  check out many museums in Austria - such as the Kunsthistorische museum,  Natural Science Museum , the Seccession ,  the list of museums is endless. ANOTHER KIND OF MUSEUM Well now there is a new museum in town,  the no filter museum .  The place where you can interact or pose to take photos in different spaces and scenes.  We probably know many people that love to post selfies, as it is one of the many ways people share their daily life with friends . It is of course not on...

GETTING READY FOR FALL? / lifestyle

FALL OR AUTUMN ...   a beautiful season September the start of the fall. The season when the leaves start to turn golden or red,  the children are back to school and parents are busy bustling them off to school.... hmm .  Yes it is that time of year. There are so many things I want to start to do, for me September is like a new adventure, a chance to find or explore new things. Fashion wise or travels, a new craft or hobby perhaps. Somethings I want  to do ZUMBA. .. whats not to love about the idea of working up a sweat to the latin beats, its lively and looks like fun! So mmm perhaps i will check out a class for starters. Have you tried Zumba ? CRAFTING ... or DIY   something i also like to do more of. I have so many saved DIYs that its hard to figure out which one to start.  Though i did make some of those nifty heating packs, came in handy when i hurt my back. What are some of your DIY crafting projects? TRAVEL...

ENJOYING the WEEKEND// lifestyle travel + tips

THE HEATWAVE HAS ARRIVED!!!! We had another long weekend here. It is always nice to have a break and be able to take a few small weekend trips or work on things around the home .... but  and this is one thing about the month of June over here- the temperatures.  Never would I have expected such HOT weather in Austria. I think more Arizona or Asia or Australia for hot places. Again the summer heatwave is hitting Europe. I never thought it be so bad, I can recall being out in 32 degree weather , but it was a drier heat . Over here it is sweltering and humid... a killer! The morning temperature of 28C  before 9 and humidity of 67% is NOT for me!! We were thinking to taking the  river cruise to Bratislava  a short trip of 75 minutes for weekend, but  the heat was to much to handle.  So instead we watched the French open tennis final; what an exciting game.  The young Austrian player Dominic Thiem is one to watch. He is now top 4 in ...

DAYs like These// Lifestyle

MAY oh MY..... It seems like the month of april went by so quickly and now its the first of May. A national holiday here and in other parts of world it is celebrated. April was superb , the weather was gorgeous, sunny and warm. And with the easter holiday, birthdays to celebrate and visitors it seemed to fly by - not to forget the GoT series couldn't miss that! I do enjoy the season and spring ,but it seems to always come and go to fast for my liking. Well after all the celebrations  I was feeling so tired. Plus I took some time off to prepare. (renovation or assembling new bookcases)  Now the place is what i would say a bit of a mess. The bedroom has some clothes piled on the bed (sweaters from winter) , books piled up, advertising flyers on kitchen counter, etc.... sorry sight to see. But I really am so tired I felt like  I ran a marathon.  Whether it was the excitement , stress or the spring changes, One thing I use to do when city life g...

FASHION RESTYLING// fashion

RESTYLE  - A SIMPLE THING I recently wrote a post about fashion and the environment , and I am sure a lot of readers wondered its strange , a fashion blogger that is writing about environment. But it was more a information and understanding where and how the fashions we wear are produced and the effects. Then I thought of my mom and things she talked about or would wear. YES my mom loved clothes! She was stylish but classic. She wore matching purses and shoes, gloves and matching pantsuits, dress sets. But she also was good at changing a dress  or outfit by having it restyled.  Something like a long floral party dress, she had it shortened  and wore it as a summer outfit. Or she took a crochet style dress with a shawl and had the shawl  made into sleeves for the dress.   These are just a few of the  REStyling things she would  do.  So her idea to restyle an outfit  had an influence on me. It is true our...

10 Year CHALLENGE//fashion bloggers

THE CHALLENGE?  I have seen several bloggers, celebrities have been sharing photographers for the 10 year challenge. It looks fun and also interesting, to see how little some have changed.  For those people who are technology experts there are some points they have shared about this challenge. One is that it could be a way to collect personal information, and used for other purposes. Face  recognition is one technology that has advanced greatly over the years. Also, the fact the challenge  it is unknown who or where it started makes one wonder. Many people share their photos via  social media, and it is definitely not ending.  But like the expert says; "your face is your fortune, it is undeniably YOU and used for ID." Anyone else take part in the challenge? You can read the Canadian  news report  10 yr. Challenge    here.

STYLE DISASTER // fashion

WHAT WAS I THINKING?  FASHION FAUX PAS I wonder how many of us have had those moments when we think, -  What was I thinking, when I bought that outfit? I for one had a several moments of that.  The thought of why did I pick that ? Some were absolutely dreadful.  No idea why I even got the things. But of course I was a young girl, pre teenager so experimenting with clothes was a bit of fun, though the results were questionable So I thought I would share a few of those dreadful style disasters  Outfit 1  .-  a floral one piece romper in stretch terry, with BOLD print  green with large white and yellow flowers . It was like mod style . A most ugly print and green was never my color. Think my mom made it for me. Outfit 2  - another floral but this time in pink  with a gingham print and flowers, A skirt set, so the skirt with daisies and the top was gingham,  and a awful material of 100% polyester. Another mom project. ...

A WEDDING GUEST- RUFFLES & LACE INSPIRATION

FEMININE LACE OR RUFFLES The summer weddings are always such a special time, from close friends or relations that are tying  the knot . It is perhaps the one time you really dress up for a special occasion. From a casual affair, like a beach wedding or a classic church  wedding. seeing what the guests wear is always interesting and exciting. Thinking about the royal wedding and the styles that were  eye popping from the bright yellow outfit worn by Amal or the  mega floral print dress of Princess Diana's niece  and many others. It can be a nerve wracking wondering what to wear or whether it is worth spending a lot on a dress that is maybe a one time thing. Here are some ideas that are stylish and not overly pricey. From maxi dresses to party styles, these are some styles I would certainly wear.  not just for a wedding events. For the Beach party Floral or flowy dresses are comfortable and something one can wear over and over, not just one ...
