WHAT WAS I THINKING? FASHION FAUX PAS
I wonder how many of us have had those moments when we think, - What was I thinking, when I bought that outfit? I for one had a several moments of that. The thought of why did I pick that ?
Some were absolutely dreadful. No idea why I even got the things. But of course I was a young girl, pre teenager so experimenting with clothes was a bit of fun, though the results were questionable
So I thought I would share a few of those dreadful style disasters
Outfit 1 .- a floral one piece romper in stretch terry, with BOLD print green with large white and yellow flowers . It was like mod style . A most ugly print and green was never my color. Think my mom made it for me.
Outfit 2 - another floral but this time in pink with a gingham print and flowers, A skirt set, so the skirt with daisies and the top was gingham, and a awful material of 100% polyester. Another mom project.
Outfit 3 - another disaster , a A -line dress in orange, high neckline and trimmed with white crochet design. Another not great color for me.
Outfit 4 . . A pantsuit in yellow , plaid print slacks yellow green and cream, with a solid yellow jacket. I even had a yellow coat to wear with it . My goodness now I think it was like a big bird from TV.
Outfit 5 a red coat trimmed with shiny wide black belt. This I didn't want but parents thought it was nice. I thought it looked like Santa Claus.
Thank heavens that didn't last long. By the time I was a teenager there were less prints, colourful outfits. A more simple look of blacks, creams and a occasional red piece. But more toned down
and simple.
Favourites of my 20s
A creme leather coat trimmed with fur. was my favourite coat. Straight cut with fur collar. The new red coat , trimmed with black fur on bottom and wrists. These 2 pieces were my favourites and lasted years. The leather coat was pricey but well worth every cent.
Today's pick; this gorgeous white coat with the faux trim, classic and chic.
Black became my colour of choice, pant suits, dresses etc. The accessories, jewelry was the thing that added a change. bold designs or modern.
GO NEUTRAL
Tans , beige , grays or navy the neutrals that work with many other colors.
Lesson learned: find your own style and the best colors that suit you, and spend your money on good quality items that last . Look at fashion magazines , pick pieces you like and add to your list.
perhaps find similar pieces and try it out.
