A fashion conundrum// fashions, sustainable, news

FASHION to FAST? or Fasting over fashion As much as i love fashion and the idea of buying something new for each season, part of me wants to be more conscious of what the item i am buying is made of, is it a sustainable item  or not?   Lately it has become a big issue, how the fashion industry is one of the major polluters  , and consumers produce  vast amounts of waste in the landfills. But now it seems manufactures using recycled materials. Recycling of materials is one way to limit the carbon emissions,  But as we already hear or know the earths atmosphere is  heating up more and more, well above the limit  that is acceptable.  I have been reading so many scientific reports on the climate change issue and it scares me. SHOP TILL YOU DROP MINDSET My lifestyle has changed more since living here, namely i don't take  a car, use public transport, travel via train,  I still will shop for things I need, fashion wise. ...

FASHION+SUSTAINABILITY

THE BUZZ WORD - SUSTAINABLE Everywhere  you will read  about fast fashion and how bad it is for the environment.  And how we as consumers are changing our shopping habits, which is a good thing. Perhaps you are buying less or better made items.  The latest fast fashion company to follow the sustainable i dea is Zara. They want to recycle, reuse your old things . They also are going to use more organic natural materials. I do believe HM started doing the same a few years back, to collect your used items and gave you store credit.  So in some ways it is a good thing, but overall we need to rethink our fashion choices We can start by wearing our clothes in  different ways, making it more versatile. For example; how many pairs of jeans does one need?  or pair of slacks? How often do we shop for new things ? I have to say, I love to shop for new pieces, but usually are pieces  that mix or match   that wor...

10 Year CHALLENGE//fashion bloggers

THE CHALLENGE?  I have seen several bloggers, celebrities have been sharing photographers for the 10 year challenge. It looks fun and also interesting, to see how little some have changed.  For those people who are technology experts there are some points they have shared about this challenge. One is that it could be a way to collect personal information, and used for other purposes. Face  recognition is one technology that has advanced greatly over the years. Also, the fact the challenge  it is unknown who or where it started makes one wonder. Many people share their photos via  social media, and it is definitely not ending.  But like the expert says; "your face is your fortune, it is undeniably YOU and used for ID." Anyone else take part in the challenge? You can read the Canadian  news report  10 yr. Challenge    here.

ENJOYING THE WEEKEND//Lifestyle

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE! Hopefully those that were getting into the shopping mania of Black Friday survived.  It can be a stressful time for some that are looking for a certain item or trying to get the best deal . Who doesn't like a great deal, right? So after all the hype and shopping time to relax and put the feet up. Thought I would share some interesting stories from around the world. you might like to read. I was reading a fun article about Japan and photo booths.  Do you remember those? Most shopping malls had them. Step into the booth , deposit your money and wait for the flash then get a strip of photos. I can remember the times a friend and I tried it.  Now a days photo booths have become  techno,  photos can be almost photoshopped. Change  your eye shape , color,  make lips bigger or smaller - you get the picture. You can read more about it here . PET LOVERS this a heartwarming article hero dogs . I love dogs or pets  ...

HAIR shade or colours //

IS YOUR HAIR COLOR  IMPORTANT at WORK???? I recently read a very interesting article about how a woman are treated differently according to the color of their hair -  Blonde or Brunette.  It is about a young woman who was blond but changed her hair color to a brunette, wore glasses, no makeup and no heels. Why ?  Because she felt it was the  way for her to get more respect at the workplace and be taken more seriously. So what is it about the blonde image? Is it all the images that are in magazines that show woman in sexist ways or less bright?  The brunette is seen as more competent or decisive. Whereas a blonde woman is considered the opposite. I am a natural blonde and I certainly am not a model. but still considered attractive. I like to wear makeup, heels and dress attractively.  I have also worked in a male dominated workplace, and only once can I say the idea of being a ditzy blonde was mentioned by male co worker, to which I immed...

THE PERFECT MODEL//fashion

TO SKINNY OR TO FAT It has finally happened,  2 major big fashion houses DIOR and Gucci have decided that the models they have on the runways will have to be a certain size. No more super skinny  and hurray to that. Time that it happened and shows that woman need to be healthy and not overly thin.  Of course the fashion houses , fashion designers want to show the  clothes so they appeal to women consumers. But most  woman are not size 0 , or model size. Don't get me wrong I love fashions and  all the beautiful clothes.  But fit and healthy is important for young girls growing up . Its something when i was younger never thought about, being super thin . I suppose I was more a tomboy or sport lover. So worrying about my size never really mattered.  Of course now as older, its even more important but sadly much harder. No longer the size small or medium.     But more important is to be healthy, whatever ones size. Be it a...
