DIVERSITY IN MODELLING When we think of models I am sure most think of young girls of 16 or 18 years old, and the more recognizable models such a Kate, Bella, Naomi or Claudia. All are a major player in the fashion industry.    Seeing more diversity is a great thing. Diversity is important but we don't see it much on the runways.  But it is changing slowly and there are some older models, curvy models and many others. I recently came across an article where a woman in  her 60s has started to model.The article     HERE   She appeared in a HM campaign wearing a swimsuit.  So wow much has changed. It is wonderful woman of all ages being shown. I can recall a woman saying , 'After a certain age women become invisible'. it was a bit of shock to hear. My thought how can that be, why?   The reason basically is the fashion industry or designers use only the youthful girls  and seldom do you see woman of certain age on runways.  But I also think women as

CELEBRATION TIME! A big surprise , Le Chic Mode is 4. I hadn't realized that in August it has been 4 years of blogging. It really seems like only yesterday that the idea of blogging came to be. I had my doubts about it at first then I thought why not. It's now or never! But another surprise was just recently being featured  on a list of TOP 100 women's fashion blogs. THE TRENDS  love or hate? Well the trends of the year were interesting to see , so many new things. Starting with handbags, shoes  and the fashions. HANDBAGS from the mini handbag, belt bags and the saddle  , purses. Croc look is one look that is going to be out there this fall and it is for me a CLASSIC.  , Wicker was everywhere again this year, like last year. So it is worth finding a nice wicker tote. I have to say purses are my love, so I am all for the bags that were out this year. JEWELRY go small or big jewelry is really a personal thing, some like bigger some like small delicate pieces. I adore most jewelry, in most combinations and designs.   So for me , I say wear what you like. Its your personal piece . SHOES   Strappy barely there sandals were seen everywhere this summer, I love the look but I can't imagine the shoe to be to comfortable or wearable for a long time. Though they do look lovel

A SPECIAL TOUR in the CITY The last week was filled with so many things to do and see.  Just trying to catch some of the things was bit overwhelming.  But when the weather has been so fantastic  we can't resist. I have always had a interest in designs , art and architecture, so last week was the chance to tour some of the very interesting buildings , open house idea. One such place that was open to see was the Hunderwasser Haus.   A most unusual and unique designed building. The man behind the idea  was an artist, he also had a great interest in design of buildings. His idea was definitely different. Homes that were colourful, filled with earth and nature, trees in rooms . It actually reminds me of the one place in Argentina with the similar colourful exterior and lopsided views.  The Hunderwasser house  has apartments, offices and outdoor terraces . It is one of the most visited buildings in Vienna. It is not classical ,  but a modern abstract structure t

STYLISH CHIC There  is nothing like a fashion show to inspire one, even if some outfits are a bit extreme. But the designer Callisto  is one I adore. Her designs are sharp , stylish, chic..... Her show was a great success and I can see why. VFW FASHION WEEK .- designer Anelia Peschov Fashion week is in full swing in the city and it is exciting to see some of the new designs  created by the designers.  The lovely fashions of  Anelia Peschov are a very feminine soft look.  Bows and ruffles, long dresses are the main feature , as well as some gorgeous satin gowns.  Romantic  looks  are never out of style. images  thomas lech

FASHION WEEK  from Vienna - designer Edith Agay Well this week was the start of fashion week in Vienna and I am looking forward to see what some of the designers are showing and presenting.  Will be interesting though I find some of the designs , so so.  The last few years the designs were a bit quirky.  But wait and see what this year has in store. There are several designers I am not familiar with. One designer is Edith AGAY. She studied with Helmut Lang, Marc Bohan (dior) and others. She has shown international- Her designs are  structural i.e. architectural looking  I would say some were almost futurist like design for a outer space film. Her designs were presented at the MQ this week and included   silver and gold lame, sheer dresses in black and  a few flowy pieces  that I found lovely. images  thomas lech

VFW AT THE MQ The month of September is full of exciting things to check out and one of them is the VFW fashion week. Held each year  at the MQ it is the event many Austrian celebs, bloggers, and even a few political sorts attend.  But what is more interesting are the fashions and also  the area where it is held. Located in the city centre it is a hub for many people to go sit lounge, eat and basically relax. The reflection pool is always a great place to sit  on the hot summer days. It also is an area that is filled with other museums such as the Leopold museum and other interesting exhibitions and performances. So it is really a easy way to see a lot of things in one spot.  So let me show you the MQ The colourful benches to sit and stretch out on, an ideal spot to people watch. FALL OR AUTUMN ...   a beautiful season September the start of the fall. The season when the leaves start to turn golden or red,  the children are back to school and parents are busy bustling them off to school.... hmm .  Yes it is that time of year. There are so many things I want to start to do, for me September is like a new adventure, a chance to find or explore new things. Fashion wise or travels, a new craft or hobby perhaps. Somethings I want  to do ZUMBA. .. whats not to love about the idea of working up a sweat to the latin beats, its lively and looks like fun! So mmm perhaps i will check out a class for starters. Have you tried Zumba ? CRAFTING ... or DIY   something i also like to do more of. I have so many saved DIYs that its hard to figure out which one to start.  Though i did make some of those nifty heating packs, came in handy when i hurt my back. SUMMER HOLIDAYS & SHOPPING ADVENTURES W e probably remember the souvenirs and knick-  knacks  we get when  we are on holidays. From the loud printed t shirts to the small decor items.  It a bit of memorabilia we can look at  and think, I bought when i was there in......... S ometimes i thought okay, a nice idea to collect certain things that a regional or very traditional to a country and unique.   LATIN AMERICA - colourful and lively I can recall when we took trips to mexico , the tourists would buy the sombreros, though difficult to pack, (if you like to wear a large hat on the flight)      Something I do remember getting were maracas  , those instruments that are nice to decorate with. A few colourful wraps, silver   and mexican pottery the lovely blue vases with the sunflower designs  Bringing back memories of the trips is one of the nice things about traveling to other countries.
