Hi EVERYONE
How are things in your part of the world? Are you handling the lockdowns well or ready to escape to some sunny place?
More then anything, I am missing going out to the museums , library , bookstores and sitting in one of the many wonderful Cafehouses in the city. There are so many grand Cafe houses in Vienna. Its definitely one of the favourite things people love to do here.
But I won't complain, it could be worse. Meanwhile I have been enjoying watching some very interesting foreign movies.
First off was an Italian film Il Postino (the postman) set in the 1950s in Sicily where a famous poet is living in exile. Well he gets so much mail, the local post office needs someone to deliver his mail. The poet befriends the postman and helps him by writing poems that the postman want to give to a girl working in a cafe. A touching romance story.
Another film was from India, called the LUNCHBOX. Again a very interesting touching film where a young married woman each day prepares her husbands lunch and has it delivered to his office. Then there is a twist. An adorable movie to see.
SNOW SNOW SNOW
I was so excited to see the white stuff, but as usual it melted away in a few days. One place there was plenty of snow was in the mountains. Kitzbuhel known for its world cup races was held over the weekend but to much snow so some runs were cancelled.
On that note, to imagine skiing down at speeds of over 100km/hr. For ski lovers there is a film which really is thrilling about this special race. If you are interested its called ,
One hell of a RIDE.
.
Lovely post. I was interested to hear the films you have been watching. I’ve made a goal to watch as many films as possible during this time. I’ve been recording them on the TV. I recently watched Julia & Julia with Meryl Streep. You might enjoy it, if you are able to watch it. We follow two women’s lives, one who is writing a cookery blog and famous Julia Child in her early years as a chef. The Skiing film looks thrilling, and I’m missing visiting cafes as well. :-) xx
