HOT WEATHER. COOL EATS// bon appetite

ITS A HEATWAVE.

I don't usually write or share recipes on the blog but with the extreme heat all i can wish for
is cool drinks and cooler food to nibble on.

Luckily for me my mom in law is a Great cook and shared her recipe for a delicious cold soup.
And believe me it is perfect for such a heatwave or anytime in the summer.

LE COOL CUCUMBER SOUP - Refreshing cool soup and simple to make.

1 english cucumber shredded
1 tsp, vegetable oil
4 cups cold water
2 or 3 vegetable soup cubes
3 gloves garlic grated fine
1 500ml plain yogurt or plain sour cream - low fat optional
1 tbsp lemon juice to taste
pepper and salt
parsley or dill garnish

Shred the cucumber , place oil in pot and saute the cucumber and garlic till soft or mussy.
Chill in refrigerator.
once cucumbers are chilled- add container of plain yogurt, water, Dissolve soup cubes in microwave with a bit of water. Add to the rest of fluid.
Finally add the lemon juice, pepper and salt to your taste.
Puree with hand puree if you want it smooth, but i serve it as it is.

Chill till cold, garnish with fresh parsley .
Serve with garlic toast , fresh deli meats and a fine white wine.

Fashions at the Met The time is here to see the fabulous fashions that are from this years Met Gala .Always aan eye popper and this year the theme was flowers botanical looks. Some very interesting creative fashions, especially if you love flowers. My favorite look was Demi Moore’s gorgeous gown a really stunning dress.. The bold big floral print on the dress was wow! I loved it! And she looked beautiful in it. The other gowns were lovely too. Men in floral print slacks to fun shoes . Something for everyone tastes. Pockets please!!/ fashion

Well as the title says…. Pocket s please! This week has been a very painful week. I recently injured my knee badly. Not able to move stand or walk. When finally bit better I finally managed to move . I needed something to wear that I could put my phone in , glasses medicine in. Any dress I thought I could use didn’t have pockets for anything. Why??? When I think back there usually were pocket inserts nicely sewn on inside of slacks or dresses. Now you rarely find that . I guess it’s a cost saving , less material needed and no extra time used sewing a pockrr er r in. Maybe it’s to give an outfit a more neat look, no bulging pockets. Meanwhile mens wear there are always pockets. Do you like outfit with pockets?

Season Changes Well it has finally cooled down which makes it bearable to be outside. Naturally the swimming pools , lakes and rivers have seen plenty o people . Festivals , Films and Fashion The festival season is winding down, but one that I anxiously wait for is the Venice Film festival. A movie and fashion lover can’t miss it! The return of Clooney on screen in Venice with his gorgeous wife is a highlight. Her fabulous fuchsia gown with the train was stunning . She stole the show! Of course there were other stars on the red carpet but no outstanding dresses . Movies some are getting mentioned . For myself I’m not sure what I be tempted to watch. Julia Roberts new one about college professor sexual harassment is a serious topic . Not light entertainment. One film with Helen mirren, pierce Brosnan about senior mystery book club sounds like light entertainment. The actors are all over 60 , s...
