FRENCH CHIC // fashion

WHEN & HOW?

We have all read I am sure in the magazines and blogs how much the French are admired for their
chicness and style.  I have often wondered what is it about the French style or fashions that the world is so enamoured by it. After reading a interesting article about the rise of the French fashion , it is easy to understand why.

We have to start to look back hundreds of years to the time of King Louis or Marie Antoinette (who was a Austrian) before the French Revolution.  This was the era when beautiful craftsmenship, stunning and rich materials and intricate design was highly important in the royal courts of Europe. France or Versailles became the centre of great fashion at that time. But when the French revolution happened , the flamboyant lifestyle of the rich was no longer part of life . As time went by it became something the french admired and wanted later . So the fashions of that time were made available to others.

Also the fact that it provided work and became  a big  economic industry for France. France was well known for it weavers, fabrics and craftsmen  . So  of course this heritage was kept alive.

France or French fashion design became the centre of business.

FASHION THE BACKBONE

With new fashions and designers such as Poiret, Chanel, Dior and the many fashion houses- fashion was the centre of French lifestyle.  From the 20s, 40s and 50s these designers created amazing fashions  and to this time French fashions are admired and adored by women around the world.

Most anyone can have a little french fashion in their life, whether real or a similar look.
The chic suits of Coco Chanel, or the Chanel bag is still a design that is seen over and over.

Thanks to the fashion magazines and films, French designers were showcased, just think of Audrey
Hepburn and the clothes she wore and you can see how French Chic came about.

From Catherine Deneuve to Audrey or  Jackie O, French design has been worn by women
from all over the world.

So now I , we can understand the reason France is considered the fashion capital.

If you are keen to see more fashion   there is an exhibition in New York held called,
Paris- capital of fashion.

Pockets please!!/ fashion

Well as the title says…. Pocket s please!  This week has been a very painful week. I recently injured my knee badly. Not able to move stand or walk. When finally bit better I finally  managed to move . I needed something to wear that I could put my phone in , glasses medicine in. Any dress I thought I could use didn’t have pockets for anything.  Why???  When I think back there usually  were pocket inserts nicely sewn  on inside of slacks or dresses.  Now you rarely find that .  I guess it’s a cost saving , less material needed and no extra time used sewing a pockrr er r in.  Maybe it’s to give an outfit a more neat look, no bulging pockets.   Meanwhile mens wear there are always pockets.  Do you like outfit with pockets?
