TAKING CARE OF YOUR CLOTHES// Fashion, lifestyle

THE HOW TO'S OF

The other day I had to do some laundry, the not so exciting thing but necessary. It is something we all do whether daily , weekly or monthly. The LAUNDRY!

But now it is recommended not to wash your things to  often. WHY,  reason being it is better for the garment as it does not wear down the fibres, and also it prevents those microfibres from being released in the water , into the rivers and oceans. YES microfibres so minuscule that we can't even see them with our eyes  is something the clothes we wear creates and pollutes the water.
Polyester and acrylic are 2 types of fabrics that are problematic.

Even designer Stella McCarthey is saying , don't wash your clothes so often.
Or the Levi jeans head say don't wash your jeans. Apparently he puts his pairs in the freezer.

Okay, what is the best way to care for your clothing?

  • Wash using liquid soaps,
  • not to overfill the machine with to many items,
  • gently wash.
  • Also to follow the washing label instructions that are sewn inside the item
  • if just a spot , clean the spot by hand, gently blot it with a damp cloth till clean.
  • hang to dry inside or outside on hangers or drying rack, clothes line

All this will increase the longevity of your clothes.

Another option is to air out the clothing, fresh air is one simple way to freshen up a piece.

All good points to keep your clothes lasting longer and looking good.

Pockets please!!/ fashion

Well as the title says…. Pocket s please!  This week has been a very painful week. I recently injured my knee badly. Not able to move stand or walk. When finally bit better I finally  managed to move . I needed something to wear that I could put my phone in , glasses medicine in. Any dress I thought I could use didn’t have pockets for anything.  Why???  When I think back there usually  were pocket inserts nicely sewn  on inside of slacks or dresses.  Now you rarely find that .  I guess it’s a cost saving , less material needed and no extra time used sewing a pockrr er r in.  Maybe it’s to give an outfit a more neat look, no bulging pockets.   Meanwhile mens wear there are always pockets.  Do you like outfit with pockets?
